Shri A S Rao has been nominated as Director on the Board of our Bank by the Government of India w.e.f 30th July 2010 until further orders. Shri A S Rao is the Regional Director for Andhra Pradesh, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Hyderabad, w.e.f. April 26, 2010. Prior to this, Shri Rao was Chief General Manager-in-Charge of Department of Non-Banking Supervision, Central Office, Mumbai.  Earlier, he was attached to RBI, Hyderabad Office, during the years from 1988 to 1994.

After completing his MBA from Andhra University in 1975, Shri Rao worked in A.P. Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation before joining RBI in 1981 as Officer in Grade 'B' (Direct Recruit). His first posting was in Kolkata Office.  Shri Rao has got varied experience having worked in various departments such as ECD, DBOD/DBS, IDMD, Issue Department, etc., at different regional offices like Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bangalore and in various Central Office Departments.  He has got 16 years experience in Banking Supervision - Operations and Policy.  He also had a stint with the Central Bank of Oman - in banking supervision area, where he was on deputation for 5 years from 2003 to 2008.  He has also attended a number of training programmes both in India and abroad including Forex Inspection and Training Courses, Rural Finance, SAARC Programme on Banking Supervision, Pilot Programme on Derivatives, Euromoney Programme on Capital Markets, etc.
