Shri Dinkar S. Punja has been nominated as Officer Employee Director on the Board by the Government of India for a period of 3 years from the date of notification dated 12.07.2010 or until he ceases to be an officer of Syndicate Bank or until further orders, whichever is the earliest. Sri Punja has served in the similar capacity earlier from 30th June,2005 till 15th September,2009.

Sri Punja started his banking career as Probationary Officer in the year 1978 and has worked in different capacities in various branches/ offices, including Goa, Mumbai, Kolkata, etc.  He is presently holding the position of Chief Manager in IT Division of the Bank at its Head Office at Manipal. 

 

Born in August,1954, Sri Punja holds a degree in Fishery Sciences from University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. His association with the trade union activities commenced from student days and continued after joining SyndicateBank.  Being an active member of Syndicate Bank Officers Association (SBOA), Sri Punja became the first Joint Secretary of SBOA in Kolkata Region and rose to the position of President of SBOA. He also holds the position of Dy. General Secretary in AIBOC, the apex organisation of bank officers in the country and the largest supervisory organisation in the world.

 

Sri Punja has rich experience in policy matters of the Bank, in his dual capacity as President of the SBOA and as Director on the Board of the Bank.
